I bought my first road bike a couple of weeks ago. It came with high end wheels and tires. I wanted to make sure I didn't bend the valves or anything by using the normal heads that come with the usual pumps. So I opted for Lezyne (sport floor drive) since it can be screwed on. I could achieve a tight fit and once I did that, there was no air leakage. With every other pump I tried, there was air leakage. I tried a $10 walmart pump and also an Ascent high pressure floor pump. Both leaked air terribly and the pressure gauge on both were off but that's understandable because you cannot expect the gauge to work well with air leaking! When I got the Lezyne, I tried it immediately with success. The key is to achieve a tight fit, and then with about 4 strokes, you get to about 80 psi easily. The last 20-30 psi is a little bit of work (2-3 strokes requiring more force) but nothing compared to other pumps! So 5 stars to this pump based on my first impressions. Just picked this up today from one of Lezyne's authorized local seller. Immediately tried it on my 2 road bikes(Presta) and 1 mountain bike(Schrader). The flip-thread chuck with Air Bleed System (ABS) is a cinch to use, addressing the previous issue of un-coring Presta valves. The wooden T-handle is very ergonomic, not to mention elegant-looking, and the piston has smooth travel and really pushes air with every stroke whether be it high volume or high pressure. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use this on our Safety 1st Bike Trailer wheels due to its very small clearance between the hub and the valve (won't risk putting a kink on the hose of my new Lezyne pump).Yes, it's expensive compared to other competitors, but with its claimed 2-year warranty, high owner remarks and reputable customer service, this should last a long time. Highly recommended. |
